Conrad Weekly Memo February 23, 2020

Principal's Message

Conrad Parents/Guardians-

March 1st, signifies the beginning of the Spring Season in schools. The warmer weather includes outdoor athletics and preparation for important assessments. Please encourage your child to do their very best on these assessments as the results will give the school important data about college readiness and parents’ information about strengths, areas to grow, and potential college options. More details are upcoming but please see the testing windows below:

  • The PSATs for 9th grade students will be administered on March 10th.
  • The PSATs for 10th grade students will be administered on March 17th.
  • The SATs will be administered to all 11th grade students on March 24th.
  • Smarter Balanced assessments for middle school students will occur April 19th-23rd.
  • Social Studies and Science DCAS exams will occur the weeks of May 3rd and May 10th.
  • AP exams are scheduled for May 4th-June11th.

The course selection process for the 2021-2022 school year is upon us as well! The coursework our students will select is demanding but I have confidence in them. Conrad is excited to offer our rising 9th grade students the College Board’s Pre-AP Biology. Pre-AP Biology sparks student motivation and critical thinking about our living world as they engage in real-world data analysis and problem solving. The course prioritizes scientific literacy and is critical for numerous college and career endeavors in science and the social sciences.

Additionally, Conrad will continue as an AP Capstone school that equips students with the independent research, collaborative teamwork, and communication skills that are increasingly valued by colleges. AP Capstone comprises the Seminar course and Research course. Students and parents are encouraged to contact their guidance counselors if they have any questions about the scheduling process.

Academic achievement is the focus at Conrad Schools of Science but can only happen in a safe and healthy learning environment. Conrad will continue to follow all COVID-19 safety protocols. Remember that if you are interested in your child returning to in-person learning 2-days per week beginning March 1st, please complete this brief form by tomorrow, February 23, 2021:

We will consider your request and get back to you with a decision by February 24, 2021.

Thank you for your support, contact me with questions or concerns, and enjoy the warmer weather.

Go Red Wolves!
