A really easy way to get rejected is to misunderstand the timings.
Don’t miss the deadline! If the funder is interested in May to November don’t apply for funds which will have been spent before May or work that will barely have started by November.
Funders are put off by work with no clear end, exit strategy or fundraising strategy for the future. Showing your forward planning will help. Showing the timetable of the actual work is vital too – when will you start? How often will you open? How regularly will you evaluate? Without a timetable your budget does not make sense.
Funders often say they get no thankyous . This is inexcusable. Put a reminder in your calendar to thank them several times during the time you are funded.
