F&M Senior Celebration Congratulations to the Franklin & Marshall College Class of 2020!

Commencement for the Class of 2020 may be delayed, but we have invited the F&M community to celebrate our most recent graduates NOW with congratulatory messages, photos, videos and activities. In recognizing these Diplomats and their accomplishments, we hope this portal offers another way of coming together in this exceptional time apart.

First, a Look Back

You will sit here again at the end of four years, looking back at your College time, and you will likely experience pride, awe, gratitude, and — if your choices have been off — regret at your use of this unique time. From there, as from here, move forward, take your next step, use your time wisely, and do right. This is your time. It is in your hands.

Lynn Matluck Brooks, the Arthur and Katherine Shadek Humanities Professor, Director of Dance and Don, Brooks College House, speaking at the Class of 2020 Convocation

Remember when?

And now we look before us where there lies

Crest after crest of sloping mountain height,

O'er all the purple haze of days unborn.

A delicately gleaming ray of light

Shines through the mazy mist to lead us on

To new attainments in our widening sphere.

Excerpt from a poem published in The Oriflamme for the Class of 1920

Proud Accomplishments

Phi Beta Kappa Induction

Phi Beta Kappa celebrates and advocates excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. Its campus chapters invite for induction the most outstanding arts and sciences students at America's leading colleges and universities. The Society sponsors activities to advance these studies — the humanities, the social sciences, and the natural sciences — in higher education and in society at large. The F&M Chapter (Theta of PA) was founded in 1908.

Make your life one of constant learning and creating, using all the tools you have strived to acquire.

Barbara K. Altmann, in her first Commencement address as F&M President

Wishing You Well

Dear Graduates

We may not be able to offer handshakes and hugs right now, but plenty of us have something to say about how proud we are of YOU and thoughts on what lies ahead.

The College Reporter Shout Outs for the Senior Class

Our student newspaper received nearly a dozen tributes to the class of 2020 and their strength, kindness, and active participation in our F&M community.

F&M changes lives. It changed mine, and if you steward it well, your F&M experience will change yours too....Whoever you become, make sure you become a person that you are proud of.

Did You See This?

There's lots of fun, virtual graduation-themed content out there. We'll share some of our favorites here.

I wish to Heaven the time which must intervene before I can repass these delightful scenes was now terminated & that we were looking back on our separation instead of seeing it before us. Farewell. Make yourself happy & you will bless me.
