The New Community School for the Pueblo of Ohkay Owingeh is a much needed replacement for the old school building(s)

south elevation

The 11,700 square foot 1-story facility fits nicely between remaining structures on their campus and will bring an element of excitement and pride to the students, staff and the community

stair and ramp at north elevation

The school consists of K-6 classrooms and a Special Education and Language Classroom. The plan is efficient and conventional in its layout

canopy at north elevation
east elevation main entry

You approach the main entry to the east which is covered by a “butterfly” shaped roof with wide overhangs

west elevation

The rest of the building is finished in a combination on of stucco and burnished concrete block. Fenestration is protected by sun screens

The school has a raised volume of space and a clerestory window that brings natural light into the center of the building
