There was a lot of discrimination. The schools were separated, and they schools couldn't trade books. There were public places that wouldn't allow some people to come in, because of their skin color. WWll was a turning point. African Americans demanded more rights.
In 1955 the Supreme Court followed up its decision is Brown vs. Board of Education with another ruling. This ruling called on public schools to make plans for integrating their class rooms. Eisenhower had to send troops to protect African American schools. Rosa Parks was made famous for not giving up her seat on a bus. He arrest led African Acmericans to boycott city buses.
