You have been tasked with shooting a 45 second shot sequence story that promotes a brand or idea or habit. (Lots of leeway here.) Practicing this allows you to focus on the building blocks of video of understanding your camera and understanding story structure.
- A shot is a continuous clip of video. No edits.
- A sequence is a series of shots--different angles or perspectives--of a particular action.
- A story is a bunch of sequences in a particular order.
Using this method allows you to direct attention to important actions/elements and you can compress time through editing and emphasis.
Your final sequence should have at least 5 shots (3 close up). Relate all 5 shots to a single activity. All shots need to be properly exposed, white balanced, focused, and steady.
- All shots need to have natural sound.
- Edits must be shorter than :45.
- Include on-screen text.
- Export as H.264 .mp4 (Vimeo or YouTube preset --> 720p or 1080p)
