Dynamic librarians

Susan Mauldin, Kimball HS Librarian, enhanced student engagement by gamifying the check for understanding part of an info literacy lesson. Students enjoyed the alternative method of questioning and were able to retain more of the concepts. AASL Standard: Engage.Grow

Melanie Conner, Carter HS Librarian, shared a SMORE newsletter with her students that gives them information about accessing databases. AASL Standard: Curate.Think

Wilmer Hutchins HS librarian coach, Valerie Tagoe, sent a thorough reminder email to her coachee. The email included what the coachee committed to in the last conversation as well as all of the meeting details and links! e2L Coach PLS Standard: Relationships

Amethyst McArthur Librarian at Travis Vanguard created a shared drive for her school because the school did not have a drive. She then used the drive to post a SORA tutorial on how to access and use SORA as a research tool. AASL Standard: Include.Create

Lisa Robinson, O.W. Holmes Librarian, has worked diligently with the students who are reporters for their campus newspaper, to get it up and running. The Tiger Tales Newspaper highlights academic, athletic success, and community partnerships. With her guidance, they are learning about the importance of traditions. AASL Standard: Inquire.Create

Toni Crawford, South Oak Cliff HS Librarian, has done an excellent job writing advisory lessons for the whole campus. Through these lessons she has embedded library instruction. Through these lessons she was able to teach students how to access eBooks. As a result there was an increase in eBook circulation between November to January with 109 titles checked-out. AASL Standards: Inquire.Grow

Dallas ISD Library Media Services Coordinator Belinda Jacks has done an incredible job of appreciating and celebrating her coachees during this trying time. When asked how her conversations with librarians are going, Belinda responded, "I find our conversations inspiring!" Belinda explained that she has been so impressed and proud of the way librarians have responded to challenges in order to provide great learning experiences for students. Belinda's growth mindset is an example for all coaches! e2L Coach PLS Standard: Life Ready Skills
