LGA NEWS EDITION NO. 10 DATE: 31 January 2020

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

As you will see there has been lots going on around the Academy over the last two weeks and many more opportunities for students to be involved with activities both in and out of school.

As many of you will know Monday was Holocuast awareness day. In the previous week all students took part in a Holocaust Awareness assembly that was led by a local member of the Holocaust Education Trust, Paul Salver. The assembly delivered a hard hitting message to students to remind them that we must learn from the lessons of the past so that we never allow another genocide to happen. The students were completely absorbed by the assembly and it was one of those moments when you really could have heard a pin drop. When I spoke to some of the students afterwards it revealed just how much they had been affected by the emotion of the assembly - I am sure it will be a message that they remember.

Jim Parker, Principal

PARKING AROUND THE ACADEMY

Lord Grey Academy is part of the local community and is set in a residential area where parking is extremely limited. This safety of our students attending the academy and all visitors, are our absolute priority. As we know, safe and considerate parking around schools is a nationwide issue.

Sadly, the parking around the Academy and residential areas has sometimes resulted in poor parking and the obstruction of pathways and neighbours driveways. Please DO NOT park on the double yellow lines of the staff access road as we require safe access for the school minibus to enter and exit our grounds.

We would ask that if you have to drive to the Academy, allow time to park safely and considerately and do not block entrances, driveways or junctions.

We thank you for your continued support.
