Everyone is enjoying their learning in school and there are lots of special events taking place in November and December to create a little bit of Christmas magic!

Fundraising events throughout 2018.19 has helped to subsidise the Pantomime trip to the Lamproom Theatre in Barnsley where I'm sure they will enjoy the production of Mother Goose.

Times Tables

Year 3,4,5,and 6 are using the TT Rockstars App to improve their knowledge of timetables as well as developing their speed of recall. This App is also available to use at home - thank you for encouraging your children to participate - our data is showing that everyone is getting better and faster with timetables. This is essential for Year 4's as they have a national times tables test in June. We also know that knowing all your 1 to 12 times tables really helps in years 5 and 6 too as children can then focus on solving problems and not spend too much time calculating numbers.

The National Curriculum recommends that by Year 2 children should know by heart 2x, 5x,and 10x and some 3x tables. By Year 4 children should know all of their timetables 1-12 x.

Anti Bullying Week
Y3 kick started Anti Bullying week off by delivering random acts of kindness throughout the school. In a world where you can be anything, always BE KIND!
Great introduction to focus on how women’s roles before and during WWII has influenced life today. We challenged some gender stereotypes in Y6 and looked at the word ‘equality’.
Magnificent Minions looked at our anti-bullying books, looking at the messages behind them and then creating our own.
In year 2 we read lots of stories and got good friend certificates when we did something nice! Pudsy also got to go home with a student for the weekend!
Children in Need
7 hours 15 minutes non stop peddling, 77.2 miles and 8264 calories burnt for a super cause by our amazing staff! Lots of pjs, spots, smiles and support around school from our pupils! Thankyou all for your support and joining us for our bake sale after school! We all had a wonderful day at Ward Green Primary! £375 was raised in total, thankyou all, we’re super grateful to have such amazing staff, pupils and parents here at Ward Green Primary.
Christmas Dinner
Whats been going on in class this month...
We had lots of fun with our morning parents at our stay and play. Thank you so much to those parents who were able to stay and have lots of fun with the children. If you missed it, don’t worry we will be holding more as the year goes on.
FS2 have been reading the story of The Little Red Hen. We learnt the story really well and made a story map to help us retell it in our own words. In the story, the Little Red Hen makes some bread so we decided to do the same. We wrote a list of ingredients that we would need and we helped to follow the recipe and mix the ingredients. When the bread was baked we enjoyed it with some jam for our snack!
Our Year 1's have been preparing for our Christmas Fair! They had a very exciting trip to Horizon School to record their singing onto CD's to sell next Friday.
In year 2, we've been looking at Magical Toys! We've all designed and made our own magical toy and house for them to live in.
Y3 have been working really hard at consolidating their knowledge and understanding of the bus stop method. Today we used the inverse to check the wrongly packaged donuts at Krispy Kreme in order for them to become Donut Division Masters! Guess what was their favourite part?!
Miss Lawtons class had a special visit from Dearn FM after being nominated for Class of the week! The year 4's will be on the radio next week, we'll let you know a definite date and time when we do for you to tune in!
In year 4, we've been focusing on angles! We’ve been using classroom objects to identify different angles!
The year 5's have begun their Enterprise Challenge, there was lots of great collaborative work. May the best team win.
Y6 have been enjoying some science this week! As part of our learning about electricity we have been investigating and giving reasons for variations in how components function.
