Why Soap? By:Dev

I’m standing in the shower. I got bubbles on me and soap on my hair and I think what on earth is soap?? Have you ever wondered how soap was invented? Do you know how soap gained so much popularity? Can we actually imagine our lives without soap!?

The reason people use soap is because dirt and other oils are easily removed from the skin whenever someone uses soap as well as smells from your body. Soap can be used for general situations such as bathing, cleaning and washing.

In order to understand why we use soap we need to know how soap was made? The first step in making soap is that they first mix a few substances. Then, they spread it out on a hot metal roller. Thirdly, a machine cuts it down into smaller strips and then dumps it into a mixer for further mixing. As they add one of the main ingredients to make soap they add some fragrant oils for the astonishing scent that smells from your body after you apply it. Afterward, they send it to package, and it's ready to go into the store.

People have been using soap for more than 5000 years and the Babylonians were the first ones to master the art of soap making. They made soap from fats boiled with ashes. According to the site Soap History, “soap was used in cleaning wool and cotton used in textile manufacturing and was used medicinally for at least 5000 years.” The first evidence we have of something that looks like soap is a substance that is dated around 2800 BC., The first soap makers were Babylonians, Mesopotamians, Egyptians, as well as Greeks and Romans. All of them made soap by mixing fat, oils and salts. Soap was used for cleaning cooking utensils and not for bathing back then.

So remember: You came not knowing things about soap, but know you now do know some new information about soap.
