To the BASD Staff, Parents, Students, and Community
Welcome to the BASD e-News. A BASD education works to IGNITE curiosity and imagination, ENCOURAGE creative cooperation and individual growth, and EMPOWER leadership and global thinking. The e-News is designed to share events and activities going on in the BASD and the Lehigh Valley and show how we are #builtbybethlehem. It is our hope that you find it informative outlining BASD student and staff achievements, BASD opportunities, and area events taking place.
The BASD e-News is divided into sections below. The sections include News and Events from BASD Media, the BASD Blog, Thomas Jefferson Elementary School's Sign of the Week, the Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District, BASD MiniThon, BAVTS, Colleges/Community Colleges/Universities, ArtsQuest, Allentown Art Museum, Hanover Township Community Center, Lehigh Valley Business Group, Nutritional Information, BASD Job Opportunities, Events in the Area, and the Bethlehem Public Library.

The ABC Tips - Q
Quinoa is a complete protein, which means it contains all nine amino acids our body cannot make. Quinoa contains fiber, which promotes good digestion and will help you stay full longer. It contains a high amount of lysine, which is needed for tissue growth and repair. Quinoa is a great source of antioxidants, which helps to prevent some cancers. In addition, quinoa contains heart healthy fats, which are known to be cardio-protective. There are 120 varieties of quinoa. Try quinoa as a side dish, in stuffed peppers, or add it to a cold salad.

2019 Cops ’n’ Kids 13th Annual
Celebration of Reading . . . and the Arts and Sciences
April 27, 2019 — 11 am until 3 pm
We have started planning for our 13th annual Cops ’n’ Kids Celebration of Reading . . . and the Arts and Sciences, and we have a great deal to celebrate!
With the help of our entire community, the award-winning Cops ‘n’ Kids Children’s Literacy Program has reached a remarkable milestone, distributing more than 940,000 free books thus far.
This will be our "March to the Millionth" event!
To celebrate this accomplishment, and the children of our community, we invite you to join us (rain or shine) for a day of food, fun, family, crafts, entertainment, laughter—and, of course, literacy.
If you are interested in having your students perform, please contact Tammy Giampapa at tgiampapa@basdschools.org for more information.
Please mark your calendars—and thank you for helping us to “connect kids and community through literacy.”
