Balmoral Orchards Property Owners Association announcement

Greetings Balmoral Homeowners!

Are you ready to put the year 2020 behind us? We are, too!

In the spirit of the Holiday season and to kick 2020 to the curb, we’re planning as a neighborhood to help light the way for 2021 as a brand new year of hope and promise!

Help light the way for 2021

We need your help this New Years Eve. Our plan is to light the streets of our subdivision with luminaries. The Board will provide each house with a kit – all you need to do is put them out to line the streets after dark on December 31st. The total time investment for each homeowner is about 15 minutes total - encourage your kids to get involved!

You may have seen other neighborhoods doing this in the past and the results – especially when every home participates – are striking. Experiencing entire neighborhoods decorated with luminaries is a site to be seen!

Help create beauty & warmth!

What about the cost?

The pandemic derailed our annual Summer Block Party, Halloween Party, and Ladies Winter Holiday gathering. Neighbors had ‘drive-by’ birthday greetings, and virtual celebrations and social distancing became the norm. We view this as an opportunity to come together as neighbors and as human beings with the cost covered by the BOPOA social fund. The expense is actually less than half the cost of one of our traditional annual POA gatherings that did not occur in 2020. Luminaries are a safe and effective way to show that we’re all in this together and an opportunity to shine some light for the upcoming new year.

We’ll follow up with more details soon but here’s the plan:

  • BOPOA will supply each home with a luminary kit complete with enough bags and “candles” (battery operated) as the light source and a brief instruction sheet
  • Place 2 candles and a rock (or other weight) inside each bag
  • At dusk on New Years Eve 12/31/2020, take your assembled luminary bags, "light" them, and place them along your property line that borders the street
  • Corner houses or those that have particularly long property frontage will be supplied more bags; simply space them apart for uniformity to line your property.
  • We loosely plan for 10 luminaries for each house

Thank you for your attention. We hope we can count on your participation. If you plan to be away for the holiday please consider asking your neighbor to set them out for you. If that's not possible let us know and our POA will do its best to ensure your home shines a light for 2021 and better days ahead.

Sincerely, Your BOPOA Board
