Engaging in School

Teachers at Harris have been working hard to develop and offer new, engaging instructional content. They are prioritizing standards and student progress. There is so much great teaching being pushed out on slide decks or happening during live Google Meet sessions. We are grateful to the many families who continue to prioritize the learning when and how they can. If you need help, please reach out to us so we can make this manageable for your family. We look forward to more great days together as Harris.

Kindergarten Registration

Greenfield-Central is pleased to offer an online experience for Kindergarten Registration. Please click on the link below to register a kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year. Students who are age 5 by August 1, 2020 are eligible to register.

Device Return

As a district we continue to adhere to the guidance of the governor and the state department of education. Under their direction, buildings remain closed to non essential activity and staff through June 30th. Until further guidance is issued, devices will remain with students planning a return to GC in 2020-2021. If you do not plan to attend a GC school next year, you can arrange for device return by emailing support@gcsc.k12.in.us

Student Items

GC schools will continue to meet the requirement for buildings to remain closed. At this time, non essential items will remain secured in the building. When arrangements to pick up items (supplies, yearbooks, etc.) are made, our families will be notified.

School Counselor Connection

Message from Mrs. Hall- Harris School Counselor

Here are some helpful tips for parents and caregivers.

This week there are many celebrations happening virtually among classes. Usually this is quite an exciting time of the school year filled with field trips, parties, award programs, field day, etc., but due to the current circumstances, many students are wrapping up this school year without that closure. Students are not going to have the opportunity to say an in-person goodbye to their classmates or teachers, which will be tough on all of us, especially our third grade students. At a time when you would typically see smiling faces, bright eyes, and heads filled with fun summer plans, this year you may see some frowns and even a few tears. Instead of simply saying, "stop crying" the graphic below provides some alternative responses to use when talking with your child. I hope you find these helpful.

We greatly appreciate you partnering with us over the past couple of months. You and your student have worked very hard to make this happen, so don't forget to plan a little celebration for the both of you!

Please reach out to Mrs. Hall by email if you have a need and are looking for various community resources during the next few weeks. She will contact you back.

Support with Be Well Indiana!

For many of our fellow Hoosiers, struggling with mental health issues or feelings like stress, grief or anxiety may not be something they’ve experienced before. As part of the Be Well Indiana initiative, we’re providing access to tools and resources that can help people identify what they may be feeling and connect to resources that can help them through it.

Since its launch one week ago, over 25,000 people have visited BeWellIndiana.org, and we’re just getting started with the resources and tools available.

Through BeWellIndiana.org, Hoosiers can take one of several Mental Health Self-Assessments offered by Mental Health America specific to their needs or what they may be feeling. These quick snapshots of mental health can help the user decide if they could better manage their feelings or if they should seek additional support.
