The sun heats the water causing it evaporate.
The water vapor cools as it rises in the atmosphere to form our clouds.
When the clouds become to heavy with water vapor, it falls in the form of rain, sleet, snow depending on the temperature.
The water pools and runs to lower ground by creeks, rivers, etc.
