Cynthia Ritchie, Superintendent of Schools
Superintendent Ritchie joined New London Public Schools in July of 2018. She has a strong focus in academics and student achievement. Since she has taken over as Superintendent of New London Public Schools, she has entrenched herself in the New London Community, meeting with families and community members for Coffee & Conversation and Community Meals, attending community events, as well as joining the New London Rotary and the New London Kiwanis. She believes in the collective strength of our school community as featured in New London's newly crafted Strategic Plan, entitled NLPS 2021.
Prior to New London Public Schools, Superintendent Ritchie served as the Assistant Superintendent at East Hartford Public Schools and as a Principal, Central Office Administrator and teacher in the Salem, Old Saybrook and Enfield Public School systems. She has four degrees in education and is currently working on her fifth. Superintendent Ritchie maintains her passion for teaching, learning and for the entire profession of education. She continually shares, "it is an honor to serve students and work alongside inspiring educators in this profession."
Ryan Kennedy, District Brigaid Chef
Chef Ryan Kennedy was born and raised in New London County, Connecticut. Ryan has spent the last 20 years working in restaurants around the New London area. For nine years he was the head chef at Coffee's Country Market and Fine Catering. A high-volume establishment that’s been owned and operated for three generations by the same family in Old Lyme, CT. Ryan joined Brigaid in August of 2016 as the Chef at New London High School and held that position until January of 2018. At that time he was promoted to become Brigaid’s first Regional Chef, taking over the lead from Brigaid Founder Daniel Giusti in New London.
Kathleen McCoy, Executive Director of Strategic Planning, Government & Media Relations
Kate is a member of the New London Public Schools' Executive Cabinet Team. Her district work consists of the planning and implementation of the District’s Strategic Initiatives, including - Magnet School design & development of our K-12 thematic pathways and two multimillion-dollar new school facilities. Additionally, Kate manages the district’s legislative priorities ensuring state and federal support for New London Public Schools.
Angela Rasmussen, Winthrop STEM Elementary Magnet School Operations Manager
At 18 years old, Angela started her marketing career with Foxwoods Resort Casino. She was involved in the opening of their hotels and many marketing events. After four years with Foxwoods, Angela moved on to Mohegan Sun, where she helped with design, fulfillment and mass mailing of Mohegan Sun's marketing materials. She was responsible for overseeing the Database Department, Mail Room and monthly marketing events. After 18 years, Angela left marketing to focus on being a mom to her three children Meghan, Matthew and Molly. Six years ago Angela felt fortunate to be able to work in the district she grew up in. New London is her hometown and she enjoys working with our schools, partners, families and students. Angela says, "it is great to be where you were born and raised."
