Are you dreading planning your session?
Are you dreading trying to get all those kiddos to smile?
Surprise! Your session is going to be fun!!
Deciding what to wear for your session can seem like a huge chore. Following these simple tips will help you chose the perfect outfits for your upcoming session with ease! Don’t forget to check your closet first!
DO - Choose a color scheme based on where you’d like to hang these pictures. Ex. If you’re planning on a living room wall display and your living room is decorated in earth tones, choose colors that will coordinate.
DON’T- Match. Leave the jeans and white t-shirts at home and instead choose a color scheme and coordinate.
DO- Layer. The more layers the better. Sweaters, scarves, jewelry, blazers, and layers create visual interest and add texture throughout your pictures. They’re a great addition.
DON’T- Be afraid of patterns. Plaids, polkadot, florals and stripes can be overwhelming when all paired together but mixing in a few patterns here and there are another great way to add some interest to your photo session.
DO- Pay attention to your shoes. Shoes matter! A pair of Nike sneakers mixed in with cute boots and dress shoes can be an eye sore in your photos. Try to stick with neutral shoes for the whole family.
DON’T- Wear logos. As much as shoes can be an eye sore so can a big logo across a t-shirt. Try to steer clear of sports or brand logos or sayings across the front of your shirt. Again, this takes the attention away from the family and brings the eye right to the t-shirt.
DO- Stay comfortable! Especially for mom, pick something you love and build around that. Wear something you’re comfortable sitting, standing, running and playing in! You’ll thank me later!
DON’T- Over think it! You want your family to look like your family, so don’t stress to much about the outfits. Be sure to have fun with it!
After the Session
You’ve already had an amazing time at your session but now things are about to get even better! One week after your session we’ll have your reveal session (We’ll schedule this at the same time we schedule your session to make sure you see your images as soon as possible!). At your reveal session you’ll see all of your images for the first time. It’s definitely something to get excited about!
That day/night you’ll come back to the studio and I’ll show you a custom slideshow with your images and maybe even some video that I’ve taken throughout your session.
After you’ve experienced the slideshow you’ll have some time to go through all of your images and take a look at all of the product samples. Seeing everything in person will really give you a sense of what products are most important to you. My favorites are framed art collages and bamboo image boxes!
You’ll have plenty of time to ask any questions, see what your images will look like on your own walls (this is pretty amazing) to see what sizes will work best and enough time to pick out your favorites.
The goal of the reveal session is to finalize your order so we can get your prints and products to you as soon as possible. To help make this stress free it’s a great idea to take a look through all of the different products and collections so you can go into it with an idea of what might work best for you. Once you’ve seen your images that may change but it’s always good to have an idea when we get started!
When all the fun of the reveal is over, you’ll have a short wait before you’ll have those images in your hands! You can expect to have your prints and products in hand within 2-4 weeks. When everything is in we’ll schedule a time that I can hand deliver everything to make sure it gets there safely! If you are outside of Culpeper, I will have items shipped directly to your home.
Upon reserving your session a $150 creative fee is due at that time. This fee includes your pre-session consult, 1-2 hour portrait session and your fun reveal session. This fee DOES NOT include product or digital images.
Create Your Own Collection
I believe that every family's needs and wants are different from their custom portrait session. I've made the process as easy as possible when selecting what best suits your needs. You start with your keepsake product(s). These are the item you have have displayed in your home and you can look back on years from now. The next is your archive digital portraits. I know its important to have backup, and that is exactly what these are for.
