2017 NAU Mountain T's Friday, feb. 3 | saturday, feb.4

After having last weekend off from competition, the Northern Arizona University track & field team is back in action this weekend for the 2017 Mountain T's Invitational.

"A meet of this caliber will be great for our athletes, who are really looking forward to getting back to work in their respective events. " -NAU Director of Track & Field Mike Smith
The week two NCAA Mountain Region rankings were released earlier this week by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA), with both NAU squads falling in the rankings because of the idle weekend off.

Despite not competing since Jan. 21, though, the Lumberjacks are still tied for the lead in the Big Sky for the most No. 1 event marks this season.

TOP: Kossi Tchenawou (200m), Brooke Andersen (Weight), Jasmine Malone (400m) | MIDDLE: Adam Keenan (Weight) | BOTTOM: Obang Odol (High Jump), Shanice McPherson (Long Jump)
The Lumberjacks have also welcomed assistant distance coach Becca DeLoache to the staff this season, and we published a feature story last week about the latest addition to the NAU family.
"I'm passionate about the sport, and I'm passionate about helping other athletes get faster. However, even more than personal improvement athletically, it's about using that sport to help them learn more about their character and who they are as people." - Coach DeLoache

A week off from competition just means putting in more effort to make sure you not only stay fresh, but also grow and improve. Check out the "seeds" our sprints and distance units have been "planting" at practice the last two weeks.

Mountain T's is a two-day meet, with Friday's field events beginning at 3 p.m. and track events at 6 p.m.

Saturday, field events are scheduled to start at 10 a.m. and track events will follow shortly at 10:30 a.m.
