The Pursuit of God A bible study

Many of us say, "I want to know God. I want to be closer to God. I want to experience His presence. And we live our lives… sometimes getting clearer glimpses of God in different experiences, but most often just wondering when we will grow closer to Him. We keep wondering, "When will I truly know God… experience real intimacy with Him." Perhaps, we resign ourselves to wait for heaven.

Do you know that God lays out a pathway for us to know Him more?

Read Mark 10:46-52.

What did the blind man do when the crowd told him to be quiet?

What did Jesus ask the man? Why?

Read Mark 5:21-34.

What stopped Jesus in his tracks?

What does Jesus say healed the woman?

What were two characteristics of those who were healed in the passages above?

1 Peter 5:5-6 - "Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, 'God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.' Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time." (NIV)

Matthew 5:6 - "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." (NIV)

Humility and Hunger

Humility and Hunger are the key ingredients to pursuing and finding Jesus. Humility and Hunger will ensure that you seek Him wholeheartedly.

Jeremiah 29:13 - "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." (NIV)

Greater intimacy with Jesus comes through an intentional positioning of humility and hunger before Him.

What is God saying to you about your humility and your hunger for Him?
