Art + Design August 2020

While COVID deeply affected campus this spring, the Department of Art + Design has continued to be a place for creativity and community. We were lucky enough to embark on our Bentonville Art Pilgrimage in early March before the shutdown. A great time was had by all -- scroll down to see some images from this adventure!

Kristen Franyutti, our newest faculty member, is in our SPOTLIGHT. Professor Franyutti, who was born in Norman, Oklahoma, will teach drawing and foundations. She received her BFA from the University of North Texas and her MFA from Michigan State University. Her art focuses on installations of fictional microcosms and mixed media drawings inspired by innovations in science and the human body. She has exhibited nationally and internationally and has won multiple exhibition awards. See examples of her work below. We are excited to welcome her to the department!

In spite of the many challenges presented by COVID, we are forging ahead and even managing to have some fun. Check out the art history recreations made by students, faculty, and even the Chancellor in the first weeks of the lock-down!
