Don't Wait For The Write Time to Write.
There's never a right time.
Write Time. We never have enough Write Time. Thankfully, there are people who come into our lives to motivate us to find it, and they do so with simple words of inspiration.
"Just write," the woman said as I sighed quietly. I had started thinking about all the things that were waiting for me. Laundry, groceries, a deadline at work, a federal report, a final budget, a wedding present for a nephew, an unfinished quilt, and all the things that make me, well, me. The things had come out of nowhere to make me pause. My pencil stopped, and I began to close my journal. "Just write" she said, "and forget the laundry. And it doesn't matter where or how or about what or why."
I never asked her how she knew what I was thinking. In fact, I never saw her face. And she walked away from behind me before I could ask her to stay.
To this day, she is my muse. She is the woman inside me who keeps me writing even when I have nothing to say. For it is there, in the middle of everything and nothing, that words appear, like magic, to help me tell the stories that make people laugh aloud or shed a few tears. Sometimes, they even get mad. Really mad. At the injustice of it all, or at me.
"Just write," she said, "And forget the laundry."
