Last Week In #FearTheFin

The women's basketball team kicked off the week with a 82-47 rout over CUNYAC opponents John Jay College. In that game, the Dolphins welcomed a new player to the 1,000-point club. Junior guard Christina Pasaturo is the 19th women's basketball play to hit that milestone in CSI's history. Staten Island and John Jay were neck and neck early on in this game but a 27-0 run helped them run away from their opponents to move to 1-0 in the CUNYAC.

The men followed up the women's CUNYAC win with a narrow 60-58 win over John Jay. With the clock ticking down Frank Schettino looked like he was going to have to throw up a desperation three-point shot. Schettino was able to regain composure and throw a no look pass down low to Khaleeq Baum for the game winning basket.

The men's basketball team traveled to Hoboken, NJ to take on Stevens Institute on Thursday. The Dolphins needed a buzzer beater three-point basket by Vincent Dacunto to lift them over the Ducks last season. This seasons meeting however, did not go in their favor as the men fell in a high scoring affair, 93-103.

The men's and women's swimming & diving teams traveled to Madison, NJ to participate in the Drew University Ranger Invitational this weekend. Senior swimmer Tim Sweeney recorded his fastest time of the season earning him an NCAA B cut in the 200 fly which was also a new school and CUNY record. When all was said and done this weekend, Sweeney broke five school and CUNY records and the second fastest time in Division III. As a team the men came in second behind hosts Drew University while the women placed third.

The women's basketball team kept on rolling Saturday with a 79-40 win over York College to improve to 2-0 in the CUNYAC this season. Pasaturo poured in a game high 27 points in the win while receiving support from Samantha Flecker who added 14 points. CSI jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they extended their win streak to two in a row.

The men's basketball team has struggled away from home this season however, they were able to pick up their first road win of the season with a dominating performance over CUNYAC opponents, York College. CSI downed the winless Cardinals, 84-50 to improve to 3-4 on the year and 2-0 in the CUNYAC. Freshman Robert Rossiter led the way for the Dolphins with 24 points while Khaleeq Baum tallied 15 points and five rebounds.
