In the 1920's, there was The Butler Act. This act forbids the teaching of evolution. A substitute, John Scopes, had been accused of violating The Butler Act and was taken to court by the state.

This whole situation is basically religion vs science.

Women's suffrage is the right for women to vote in elections.
