The set of paintings 'Hötorget' deals with one of the main town squares of Stockholm. Ella is interested neither in its shape nor architect's aim. She concentrates more on the effects that make office buildings covered with smooth facades and enormous window panes facing each other, creating this way a colourful palimpsest.
Ella Antonius' paintings do not show traditionally understood urban landscapes. Ella paints modern big city, which seems to her as a jumble of signs and pulsating signals changing, like in the kaleidoscope.
On a sheet of rice paper, she tries to immortalize a temporary visual impression of the vibrating, and full of flickering light street.
