Week 7 Finding Out about our loca area

This week we had a walk around our local area looking for key points of interest. Before we set off we talked about some of the places the children might see on the walk. Some suggested they might see their local shop or even their house. We mapped our route and set off on our travels. We walked along “The Pipe Track” and arrived at the Nature Park. We carried on walking and passed another local school, the Turf, Benwell’s graveyard and then arrived back at school. The children we brilliant on our geographical walk and made a timeline of the key points.
This week we looked closely at the beans that we planted last week. The children noticed that there were definitely some changes. Some beans had swelled and looked much bigger and others were beginning to grow roots and shoots. The children recorded their findings and are looking forward to see what happens next.
The children have also been busy this week making different shades and tints by mixing white paint with another colour. They have been doing some lovely independent writing and practicing their mathematical skills by comparing numbers that are the greatest.
The children had so much fun decorating satsumas to represent Jack-o-Lanterns and definitely enjoyed eating them! 🎃
