Depression is a disorder where you have a huge amount of sadness in your life.
Different symptoms for depression is feeling hopeless and sadness, your teen may also feel loss in interest in activities s/he used to love, or starts having different eating and sleeping habits.
3 million adolescents from the ages 12 to 17 in the United States had at least one major depressive "episode" The number has been increasing by each year. From 2006 to 2015 the percentage has gone from 7.9% to 12.5%.
It has been proved the female suffer from depression more than male. The percentage is for female is 19.5% and male is 5.8%.
6.3 million adolescents from the ages 13 to 18 who have had an anxiety disorder. That number represents 25% of the population in that age group in 2015.
More female suffer from an anxiety disorder. The percentage for female is 30.1% and male is 20.3%.
Depression and Anxiety aren't fun but there are ways to feel a little better. There are different kinds of therapy.
ACT: Acceptance Commitment Therapy. It helps strategies for acceptance and way to deal with feeling and thoughts that aren't wanted
DBT: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. It helps cope with feelings that aren't wanted at the moment. There is a big list of coping skills to help. It helps with intense negative emotions.
