(Top left hand corner): Where the Tiwi islands are. (Top right hand corner):St.Anne with 2 children she has taught. (Bottom left hand corner): St. Anne with another 2 children she taught. (Bottom right hand corner): St. Anne about 13 yrs into her mission.

St. Anne has been working with the Tiwi people for 63 years.

She arrived on Bathurst island the smaller of the 2 Tiwi islands in 1953 as a 22 year old women who was a member of the daughters of our lady scared heart.

She is a teacher on the island, she was very strict in making sure all students attended school.

There are many qualities that have to go into prophetical properties some are being kind but knowing how to stand your ground and not give up, trying your hardest to get your point across and not giving up with the first bump in the road, putting your heart and soul into every action you do and loving what you believe in.

An interview that she did in December 2016 had a few very inspirational quotes there are 3 that realty stood out to me as for what she stands for these are:

Quote 1

“ And i asked him

‘ what will i do? I’m going to Bathurst island’

and he looked through his beard and looked deep into me and said two words

‘ LOVE THEM’

Quote 2

“You live a life that must be very much like the Palestine of Jesus’ day,” Sr Anne said.

“You walk with the people, you mourn with the people, and listen to their stories.

“Jesus was a great storyteller and I think the Gospel comes alive up here.

“And I am very, very grateful for the time I’ve spent with them and prayed with them, gone to their funerals and smoking ceremonies, and your faith deepens because there’s quite often a funny side to it, quite often a serious side to it, and you laugh with them and you cry with them.”

Quote 3

“I didn’t know very much about indigenous people at all. I was enthusiastic, I was full of life, I wanted to change the world, but to go to Bathurst Island I think the people there changed me,”

Devoting her life

St. Anne has devoted her life to the Tiwi people and she loves working with the children and improving there quality of life.

In 2016 she was nominated and won Senior Australian of the year. She encouraged and spoke words of wisdom with her acceptance speech. She was brought to tears with the acceptance and gratitude of receiving the award.

1 of the questions we had to answer was list three things you prophet has done to live out their mission I believe these are the three main ones for St. Anne Gardiner after 63 years she is still teaching new generations and still lives on Bathurst island, After all she has done the Tiwi people when she passes will bury her like one of their own people, She loves and cares for each and every person on the island no matter what because she believes that is what God wants.

ZACHARIAH

Zechariah’s message is love, hope and life, St. Anne loves educating the Tiwi children, St. Anne has Hope that her contribution with the children will make a difference, St. Anne wants to give the children of the Tiwi islands a better Life.
