Good Life Tour of the Harn Sravya Kamarajugadda

Medium of the Art / Technique of the Artist

Upon first glance of the art work I thought it was a nice painting. After taking a moment to look at it I realized it was a quite stunning work made of wood. The amount of detail that Yvonne Jacquette achieved is remarkable. To me the piece was unique because the main medium is wood which I've never seen before. The artwork made me feel nostalgic of my vacation this past winter break to New York City because it is my favorite place in the world and my idea of the good life.

Design of the Museum

The outdoor aspect of the Harn was appealing to me as it provided a sense of calm and tranquility. It was a nice place to come and just relax. The outdoor "exhibit" was so beautiful with its running water and greenery. It reminded me of the Butterfly Rainforest at the Florida Museum of Natural History. I'm glad that this space was constructed into a sanctuary of sorts instead of adding another room filled with art work, because in my opinion nature in itself is a work of art.

Art and Core Values

In my opinion family is the most crucial core value because having a loving support system enables people to overcome even the most daunting obstacles. Family doesn't necessarily need to be a relative but can be anyone who is there when you need them the most. This photograph depicts three girls who may or may not be related but appear to have stuck together through all the different obstacles they have had to face including poverty. This photograph has taught me to not take my family for granted and to be thankful for everything they have done for me.

Art and the Good Life

As a musician I very much appreciate this piece of art. I depicts a group of people who are having a great time and playing music together. In my mind music is one of the great unifiers across the world. Music is a universal language that everyone can understand and enjoy. I believe the good life is a place in which you are the happiest and for everyone that is different, but for the people in the work it appears as if they have found their good life or at least a part of it. I decided that this piece represented the good life because music is such an integral part of my life and I couldn't imagine achieving the good life without it.
