Coaches March Week 2

Hey Jedi and padawan, I love this image. What is particular to it ?

  • The whistle?
  • All the same helmet?
  • The serious look?!
  • You don't know them?
  • the players are teenagers?
  • NOPE!!!! That ain't it. Let me give you a few hints.

I coached when I was younger

  • I was a soccer coach for a U12 (under 12 years old) team that won the Quebec championship
  • I coached our college volleyball team
  • I even coached and lead our waterskiing team at a summer camp I worked when I was a young adult!
  • I also coached the punter on our High School football team

All of these coaching experiences, there is one common denominator.

I never wore the uniform; I wasn't a player. I was a coach.

The coach doesn't play. He coaches. He teaches the captain (our Team leaders) and the players how to play.

I was part of the team, for sure. But the actual playing part, I was not part of. The players were. Players play. Coaches coach.

God gave the Body some the gifts. He did it so that they might prepare God's people to serve. Psalm 110:3

As a coach, we need to focus on equipping our teammates to be able to play the game. To

Help Team leaders OWN their room, their environment. Let them experiment by your side.

Worth Fighting For

We all encounter conflicts in relationships at home, at work, and at school. Most conflicts start because of unmet expectations. If we choose to act not react, choose to focus on the good in the other person, and choose to stay, our conflicts can be resolved in life-giving, loving way.

Your growth depends on how deep you commit to growing! So dig deeper.
  • March 12th - VO @ 8:30 & 4pm SHOW UP!!!!! I want everyone to show up and talk to some new recruits.
  • March 21th - Team Night 6:30-8:30 PM
  • March 26th - Family Dedication Service 2:30-3:30 PM
  • March 12th: afternoon Cluster meeting. It's sometimes hard to have 1 on 1...this will help you and me!
Come on coaches, these times are specifically planned for you!!! If you've got another time, ask me. It can be live or by video.

Team Leaders, you can fill in these spots if I'm available. Just go faster that your coach!

Easter is coming.

It will be great. Tons of people have been becoming fully alive and committing their lives to Christ. This is a time for us to be a blessing and be blessed at the same time!

  • Saturday 6PM
  • Sunday 8, 9:30, 11:30 AM. 1:30, 3:00 and 5PM.

Let's get our teams rolling!

  • Pst Shawn and Jennifer will have baby Samuel this week . Pray for them.
  • We've added many new families to our campus lately. Pray they get connected soon.
  • Courtnie Wolfe (Quest) is getting married with John on April 1st. Pray for them in those final details that need to be managed!
  • Evelyn Hoyle-Steele (TREK) has undergone surgery. Let's praise God, she is back, serving passionately in TREK!
  • Let's pray for FUTURE NEW VOLUNTEERS!

Specifics in environments

My desire, and the church's also, is that everybody be a healthy leader in your ministry.

In order to better assess where and how many "real" volunteers we have, i will ask each environment to fill out a new document on Sundays.

It's basically a "roster" document. Teammates (you included!), just need to write their names down and check how many services they ministered. Simple. Efficient.

5PM teams: we have a new thing

Every week, we have some material that goes to garbage at the end of service

  • empty or empty water bottles
  • every piece of paper that is not reusable (lesson scripts, small/large groups script, extra craft stuff, etc)
  • Extra weekly handouts

Every week, we have some material NEEDS to come back to me at the end of service

This page is in your folder in EACH environment. Here's what to do whit it

  • Look for the noted material
  • Bring it back to the Production area in the Quest theaters.
  • There, you will find a small plastic bin where it is noted "Recyclable"
  • Put it in there.
  • Check the list :)
  • And thanks for doing this.

SUNDAY MORNING ECHECK

For every volunteers convenience, they can check in at any echeck station from now on. It will simplify everything :)

  • SMALL GROUP: Small group is a great time for you to connect with our bunch. Take that time to do just that: connect!
  • Make sure you take time to pray with them
  • Introduce the lesson and theme of the day when you start of the small group before worship

QUEST K-1

  • Make sure your rooms are clean when you leave. Another group is coming after you
  • When you starts your service experience, make sure you use the "intro" document so can ease in the topic of the day for our younger ones.

QUEST 2-3

  • Make sure you keep ALL MATERIAL available for the 5PM team
  • You're doing great guys!
  • EVERYONE, TELL A PARENT SOMETHING GREAT ABOUT THEIR CHILD

QUEST 4-5

  • As a reminder, challenge our kids to keep pushing themselves during the week by using YouVersion
  • As leaders of that group, have an attitude of worship when you join Quest 2-3 in the theater. They will follow your lead. Participate. I should see and hear you singing and having fun
  • TELL PARENTS ABOUT THE YOUVERSION PLAN and MAKE SURE THE KIDS GET THE INFO

These need to be given away EVERY WEEK!

  • You guys have been adding up some crazy numbers on Sunday mornings.
  • Keep getting there on time, it's a way you show Honor to your teammates, the kids and their parents
  • Make sure your rooms are clean when you leave. Another group is coming after you
  • Fill out you attendance sheets, they are not optional!
  • Keep on loving these babies.
  • Snacks are now put in every room instead of being centrally stacked
  • Try to memorize some parents' names this week
  • EVERYONE, TELL A PARENT SOMETHING GREAT ABOUT THEIR CHILD
This is where you should park on Sundays!

Daily devotionals

How is quiet time going right now ?

Honor is not only about words, it's about actions
  1. Let's honor every single one of our teammates by cleaning up our area after your done serving.
  2. We also honor by being on time at VIPs!

Pastor's message on unity was awesome.

According to Philippians 2:1-2, we move in "UNITY" when...
  • We're being like-minded : we're all for the same thing, which is helping people become fully alive, adults and kids alike.
  • We're having the same love for one another : we care for each other
  • We're being one in spirit: friendship are developed
  • We're being one mind: one purpose
And we are in "DISUNITY" when...
  • Teammates are pushing against God-given momentum.
  • Negative attitudes towards change or ministry load
  • Lack of rejoicing of new people becoming fully alive
  • Pushing against the movement of God by resisting it
  • Movement in the wrong direction ( not going with the "flow")
  • Non-movement or refusing to move. Teammates are not "pulling their weight "
Having said this
  • Give teammates the latitude to join on board...and reasons to join us full heartedly
  • Address the heart issue of disunity, with grace and truth
  • You MUST be less of a "do-er" and more of a "be-er" (I know this word does not exist!).
  • Teach more, show more, do less. By doing this, you are, we are multiplying hands that will actually work. Every week, show 1 person something they should be doing in your place!
  • Be more of a talker to parents, folks in the foyer.
The things you have heard me say, entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.

A little reminder of some goals that have not changed !!

  1. Become 3 deep in all of our leadership positions by June 30th
  2. Have 1 ready-to-go padawan each by February 28th. This is DONE! I will ask you this Sunday!.
  3. Recruit 30 NEW volunteers by March 31st . We're close to that right now!
  4. Matching Arena and your schedules by February 21st: new notes ( THIS ONE IS NOT NECESSARILY CLOSE TO BEING DONE). use the docs Lindsey sent you. Our official new teams will be the ones on Arena Roster. (if there are 15 people noted on 1a, that will be considered the team)
  5. Every week, show 1 person something they should be doing in your place!
  6. Talk to 1 parent per service, every week. Many will join the team!
  7. Speed up connection process : refer to the "Orientation & Connection Process". document. 2 weeks MAX from V.O. to Team mate
