When you come to Rust Belt Love for your invitations and stationery, you get so much more than next level design. You have our decade of experience designing weddings at your disposal. You get recommendations and knowledgeable advice on traditions and customs; where they come from, and modern takes on them. We understand the best wording to use for your particular situation (no matter how simple or complicated). We even offer mailing services where we will handle the postage, weighing, and shipping of your invitations.

Everything we create is designed completely by us; we don’t use stock images or templates, so you won't see these designs anywhere else. Everything you see is original artwork from Alyson's hand, often beginning as a traditional pen and ink drawing. Each invitation is then assembled by hand, with the utmost attention to every detail. The same goes for programs, place cards, menus, favor tags, and anything else you could imagine for your event.

This year has been crazy right? In January, we made a big leap into bringing almost all of our production in-house. This means the digital press, the Chandler and Price platen letterpresses and our die cutting machines are operated by Nick - giving us a unique level of awareness and expertise about the boundaries of specialty printing - and how best to push them. In these uncertain times, maintaining more control over our production means more peace of mind for our customers. It also reduces our carbon footprint by needing to outsource fewer services. Things we can't do in-house, like calligraphy and metallic foil, are outsourced to other small businesses we work closely with right here in WNY.

OUR PROCESS

Start by filling out our contact form with your details. Then we will email you a link to set up a 15-20 minute discovery phone call. During that call, we'll learn more about your style and vision for your special day. We will explain the services we offer including printing options and customization and discuss pricing. After our phone call, we'll put together a custom proposal just for you!

The next step is for you to come to the shop to go over colors, stocks, etc. We love meeting with couples in person to show you what we are able to create for your needs. Not local? We will gladly mail samples to you.

Once you have made your selections, you will sign a contract and pay your deposit digitally. Then the creation can begin!

Your design proof is done based on our detailed discussions. The online proofing process ensures that your invitations look exactly the way you want them to before moving to printing. We also offer hardcopy proof options so that you can touch and feel the invitation before printing the final versions.

Once you are completely satisfied with the design and have given your final approval, we ask that you kindly remit your remaining payment balance. Once that is received, your semi-custom or custom designed stationery is printed. Printing and assembly is typically completed in 30 days and we will contact you when it is ready for pick up or we can even mail them directly to your guests!*

Do you have something specific in mind? We offer a completely custom experience as well. We will meet with you and discuss your likes, your dislikes, your style, your colors, and what it is that makes you you. Our goal is to have your guests open your invitation and think "this is so them!" without even reading your names. Alyson does all the illustrations by hand. She can draw the florals you absolutely adore for your bouquet, or the amazing venue where you're having your big day, or even your dog that can't come to your wedding but you just need him included in the invitations. Our Shop

We are located in the heart of the Rust Belt in Buffalo, New York's historic Market Arcade building, on Main Street in the Theater District. We have over 30 of our invitation samples on display. This fall, we have changed our hours to be by appointment only, and have moved our retail offerings of stationery, greeting cards, notebooks, landmark prints, and Buffalo gifts entirely online. If you'd like to come in to chat about invitations, send us a note, we would love to schedule a time to sit down with you and go through printing options and paper stocks. Can't make it to Buffalo? Why custom (or semi-custom)?

Our one on one service is something you won't find anywhere else. We walk you through each aspect of your stationery, and the best way to make it feel totally like YOU. In our nearly 10 years in business we have experienced just about every variation of formal to casual events; traditional, nontraditional, and complicated family groups and relationships, and we can recommend all the best ways to have your wording reflect your specific situation.

Do we need to make an appointment?

We always recommend a meeting in person, when possible, or at least a video or phone chat. Our small business superpower is getting a feel for your personality and style, and bringing that out in your event stationery. The best thing about custom (or semi-custom) design is that you get complete control, and being able to communicate exactly what you are about in person is the first step to getting it exactly right. While everyone is welcome to come see our semi-custom collection any time during our shop hours, we can only sit down to meet with couples by appointment. How far in advance should we book?

We recommend setting up your appointment as soon as you feel comfortable. We only take a limited number of weddings per weekend (to give each of our couples our undivided attention) so booking far enough in advance is important. We do, however, advise waiting until one year in advance to start hard design, only because sometimes colors change, ideas change, and you don't want to get too far into a design in the event that we have to take it in a different direction.

INVESTMENT

Our custom suites start around $2,000 for layered or double-thick invitation, RSVP card and envelope, and blank outer envelope. Specialty printing options typically start around $3,000. With add-ons, the average total investment for our couples is usually around $4,000 for a full custom suite.

Our semi-custom suites include your invitation, RSVP card and envelope, and blank outer envelope. Digitally printed suites start around $800, specialty printing suites around $1,500. On average, our couples spend between $2,000 - $2,500 for their total semi-custom package.

Each luxury add-on is line priced in our proposal, so you can pick and choose which items to keep and which to lose.

We also create invitations for showers, retirement parties, engagements, party invitations and Save the Dates. Our digitally printed event invitations and Save the Dates start around $400. Letterpress and/or foil event invitations (without RSVP cards) and Save the Dates usually range from $1,000 - $2,000.
