Water Use An estimated 70% of worldwide water is used for irrigation, with 15-35% of irrigation withdraws being unsustainable . It takes near 2,000-3,000 liters of water to produce enough food to satisfy one persons daily need. This is a considerable amount when compared to that required for drinking which is between 2 and 5 liters a day.

Many pollutants threaten water supplies, but the the most widespread pollution especially in developing countries, is the discharge of raw sewage into natural waters, this method of sewage disposal leads to horrible water quality for both humans and animals, this is also most common method in under developed countries.
