The team arrived in Florida on Wednesday, Jan. 11 and had five practice sessions at IMG Academy.

OFF-FIELD EVENTS

On Wednesday evening, the first night of the trip, the team had the pleasure of going to Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame member Dick Vitale's house for dinner. The former Detroit Pistons coach and ESPN college basketball announcer's two daughters played tennis at Notre Dame and married fellow Irish athletes. Terri ('94, '95) is married to former Notre Dame lacrosse player Chris Sforzo ('94) and Sherri ('96, '98) is married to former Notre Dame football player Thomas Krug ('97).

On Thursday the team had the opportunity to have dinner at Notre Dame alum Dan Connor's house.
The guys got to enjoy the sunset over the gulf and played a number of games on the beach.
SPIKEBALL!
After dinner the Connors hosted trivia night with categories including Notre Dame, Name that Tune, Politics and more.

On Friday evening current Notre Dame lacrosse player Carlson Milikin and his parents hosted the team for dinner.

The team stayed at Aloft in downtown Sarasota. In the downtime the team played board games, shot some pool and hung out on the pool deck.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING

David Lynn, Executive Vice President of Strategic Services for LeadFirst Learning Systems, LLC., led a two day, four session, leadership training course for the team.

The team was divided up into groups and each came up with lists on what qualities it believed a great leader has.

The U.S. won the game by a final score of 16-11, however Notre Dame outscored the national team, arguably the best team in the world, in the second half 7-6. Mikey Wynne finished with a game-high three goals while Sergio Perkovic, Ryder Garnsey and Drew Schantz each added two goals.

The Irish went up against a familiar face, as former standout Matt Kavanagh played for Team USA.

The Irish will begin the 2017 season in Dallas, as they take on Georgetown as part of the annual Patriot Cup. The game will be played at The Star, the Dallas Cowboys newly constructed headquarters.
