Alumni Panel Biographies

Brigitte Anderson ’98 / Moderator

Brigitte Anderson is Founder and Principal of Orange Vista LLC, a market research consultancy focused on the health and education sector. With 18 years of professional experience, Brigitte began her career in the financial services industry and spent nearly a decade with JP Morgan, Bank of America and Barclays in a variety of strategic and operational roles in Chicago, New York, London, Johannesburg, and Nairobi. Upon returning to the US, she worked for several years as an independent consultant and in a strategy role for a global building materials company. She then decided to pivot professionally and learn more about technology, innovation and healthcare via participation in various tech boot camps and professional development programs. Her last corporate role was in Market Expansion at Rally Health, a consumer-focused digital health subsidiary of United Healthcare.

In 2016, she participated in the Aspen Institute Executive Seminar on Leadership, Values and the Good Society. In 2019 Brigitte served on the Steering Committee for “Thrive”, a three-day conference empowering and celebrating the Black alumni of Princeton University. She curated the conference panel “Tigers in Healthcare: Views from the Clinic, the Classroom and the Community” that attracted over 300 alumni and student attendees. In addition to producing events that pertain to healthcare, media and innovation, Brigitte recently co-authored the paper “Planning for Patient-Reported Outcome Implementation: Development of Decision Tools and Practical Experience Across Four Clinics” that was published in the Journal of Clinical and Translational Science in April 2020.

Raised as an “Air Force brat,” Brigitte enjoys playing tennis, traveling and attending cultural events. She currently serves as Secretary for the Scenemakers Board of the Goodman Theatre, a Vice-President of the Princeton Club of Chicago and a Co-Chair for the Chicago Booth Black Alumni Association. She holds monthly office hours at the Polsky Exchange and has served as a judge and coach for several entrepreneurial initiatives.

Brigitte holds an AB in Anthropology from Princeton University and an MBA from Chicago Booth with concentrations in Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship. In June 2020, she completed an MS in Biomedical Informatics from The University of Chicago focusing on Population Health, Healthcare Delivery Science and Clinical Informatics.

Ben Cmejla ’07

Ben is current VP of Investments at First Round, a seed-stage venture firm focused on building a vibrant community of technology entrepreneurs and companies, including Uber, Square, Roblox, Notion, and over 300 others. At First Round, he bridges the gap between operating and investing—spinning up new initiatives like the Product Co-op, Angel Track, and State of Startups, and working as part of First Round's core investing team to back emerging startups. Prior to First Round, Ben put his Deerfield-taught Mandarin to use at Hong Kong-based private equity firm Asia Pacific Land, investing in commercial real estate properties across Asia. He graduated from Deerfield in 2007 and from Middlebury College with a degree in East Asian Studies in 2011.

Paula Edgar ’95

Paula T. Edgar, Esq., is a partner of Inclusion Strategy Solutions LLC, a diversity consulting and training firm that provides innovative and strategic solutions on organizational diversity efforts, intercultural fluency initiatives, sexual harassment prevention, and EEO compliance.

Paula speaks and consults on these and other topics by facilitating workshops, conducting live and virtual professional development training, delivering keynote speeches, and coaching executives. Paula is an expert in inclusive executive/leadership development, personal branding, networking, social media, and career strategies. Paula is the current Treasurer and a past President of the Metropolitan Black Bar Association (MBBA), New York’s largest black bar association.

Paula has previously served as the founder and CEO of PGE LLC, the inaugural Chief Diversity Officer at New York Law School, and as an attorney for the New York City Commission on Human Rights.

Paula received her BA in Anthropology from California State University (Fullerton) and JD from City University of New York School of Law. She was recognized by The Network Journal Magazine, a Ms. JD “Woman of Inspiration”, and a “Rising Star” by A Better Chance, Inc.

Olivia Pivirotto ’15

Olivia Pivirotto is a member and founder of Thomas Point Enterprises LLC, and creator of the SWIGSAFE Party Tumbler. After graduating from Deerfield Academy in 2015, she went on receive her Bachelors degree in Leadership Studies from the University of Richmond. Olivia first conceptualized SWIGSAFE during her freshman year of college, and later brought in Brenda Pivirotto as her business partner. Olivia and SWIGSAFE have been featured in Forbes online twice, along with several other print and online publications. Olivia currently resides in Washington, DC, and enjoys running marathons and being a “dog mom” to her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Ella.
