Remote learning Falcon Update #wemissyou! May 18, 2020

Picture of the week

Our very own Althea Council was chosen as the 2020 School-Related Employee of the Year for the ENTIRE STATE OF FLORIDA!

Fourth Quarter Grades

For the 2019-2020 school year, student grades earned during distance learning will reflect academic progress made during distance learning and, when beneficial to the student, will also account for the academic progress demonstrated throughout the previous grading periods.

The Citrus County School District is committed to ensuring fainess regarding grading practices during this pandemic. We ask parents to please contact the school administrator if their student has experienced any extenuating circumstances that may have impacted his/her grade.

Mark your calendars for the End-Of-Year wrap-up days!

**The dates for this event were adjusted after the original publication of this newsletter. In addition to the update on the newsletter, emails with the correct information have been sent to students and parents. There are no longer recommendations for certain grade levels to come on specific days.

Beginning Thursday, May 28th, we will make some home and school exchanges in a safe manner. All students will need to return their iPad, charger, cord & case and any school materials, such as textbooks, library books, band instruments, school calculators, etc. All items will be returned to staff on the Parent Pick up line. Please drive around the parent pick up loop and stay in your car. During this exchange, we will provide any locker contents to you. We will also celebrate your hard work and success this year with awards of recognition.

PSA from love 146

Given the dramatic increase spent online due to remote learning and working, our partners at the Department of Juvenile Justice shared a brief and powerful public service announcement produced by Love146 geared towards students and adults regarding internet safety.

This resource also includes specific tips to promote safety online titled, "Creeps Can Seem Nice at First: 5 Tips for Internet Safety during COVID-19."

Florida schools will remain closed for this school year

Governor Ron DeSantis has directed all school districts in Florida to remain closed for the remainder of the school year. Citrus County Schools will follow this mandate and continue with our Citrus C.A.R.E.S. Remote Learning Plan. You can find our plan on the district website or through the button below.

We understand that with this announcement, many of you have questions about end of the year activities and events planned. We will be providing you additional details in the coming days. Please continue to follow our district website, as well as the weekly Falcon newsletter updates for additional information.

As Superintendent Sam Himmel has stressed since schools first closed - the safety of our students and staff will remain our top priority. We know how hard this is for many families, but we will get through this together as a district and a community.

PBIS Stores are open!

You can still earn and spend PBIS points during remote learning! Check out the school store as well as teacher stores. Use points to diaplay your artwork in the newsletter, chose your teacher's Zoom background, introduce your pet to your class, or make your teachers learn a TikTok dance and show it off!
