BASEBALL

The Maroons defeated Illinois Tech in a wild one April 10, winning 18-13 in a game that last 3 hours and 35 minutes.
Three wins last week put the Maroons at 15-7 overall on the year. UChicago is set to take on Edgewood, Bendectine and Elmhurst in five games this week.

UChicago Baseball went a perfect 3-0 in a rain shortened week, defeating Illinois in a marathon nine-inning contest before sweeping Finlandia in two games at home.

Brenton Villasenor set a new career high with 12 strikeouts in his seven-inning complete game. He only allowed four hits, while fanning multiple batters in an inning four times. Jacob Petersen, right, scattered four hits and racked up a career-best nine strikeouts. He improved his season record to 5-2.

Drew Ventrelle (4-for-5) and Payton Jancsy (4-for-6) tallied three RBI each in the Maroons' wild 18-13 win over Illinois Tech.

Senior outfielder Maximiliano Larsen made history on Friday as well. The lefty's two doubles gave him a school-record 51 for his career. The previous UChicago record holder was Kyle Engel with 50 doubles from 2012-15.

TENNIS

Senior Nicolas Chua and sophomore Estefania Navarro earned UAA Athlete of the Week honors, bringing UChicago Tennis' total weekly honors to 18 so far this season.
The 10th-ranked Maroon women's tennis team heads into the University Athletic Association championships riding a five-game winning streak after two more wins last week -- including one over rival Washington-St. Louis.

FIVE-MATCH WIN STREAK

The Maroons topped Washington-St. Louis for the second time in as many matches and then downed Wisconsin-Whitewater to improve to 15-3 on the year.

UChicago track and field teams had a strong showing at a weather-shortened Benedictine Relay meet, earning three event titles and 22 Top 10 finishes.

A sweep over Aurora and a split with a tough Wisconsin-Whitewater team highlighted the heavy-hitting Maroons last week, who now have nine HRs on the season -- up three from all of last year.
