Our Story
The rapidly-growing cannabis industry offers great opportunity for patients and consumers. But, as we head toward legalization, Canadians are looking for clarity when it comes to buying quality cannabis that is sourced ethically and adhering to government laws and regulations. They want to be able to trust the products on the market and the companies that are selling it.
In December, 2017, NICHE Canada (National Institute for Cannabis Health and Education) announced it would be establishing an accreditation program "CannabisWise" for private retailers and micro producers. In collaboration with sector leaders, consumers and concerned stakeholders, NICHE Canada worked with CannabisWise Ltd. to identify consumer priorities and developed and launched its first program in April, 2018.
Cannabis Wise has developed a product quality certification program.
We've formed a product review panel and consumer guidance group responsible for assigning the 'Cannabis Wise' seal of approval.
Designed to complement the existing regulatory federal system, Cannabis Wise product certification indicates to the public which specific flowers have been grown, processed and cured to meet the traditional quality standards expected by the experienced consumer.
Founders
Adolfo Gonzalez has been working in the Canadian cannabis industry for over 15 years as a grower, front-line worker, writer and training specialist. Adolfo sits on the advisory board of CAMCD, the Toronto Dispensary Coalition, and works actively with Canadian municipalities to develop and implement local dispensary regulatory schemes.
Barinder Rasode is currently the CEO of NICHE, an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides impartial and evidence-based research about cannabis production and use in Canada. Previously, Barinder served two terms as an elected Councillor for the City of Surrey. She has also served on the Board of Directors for Fraser Health, which provides governance and vision for the largest health authority in British Columbia.
