Superintendent Update September 2019

Our Work Continues

Our leadership team, central office staff, school staffs, and educators have been quite productive this summer! Summer schools, academic and athletic camps, planning meetings, and process reviews have been taking place. Facility updates, cleaning schedules, and future planning has filled many individuals' calendars. We are excited about the work that has been accomplished and are enjoying a great start to the 2019-2020 school year.

Convocation 2019

Students from various dual language immersion classes spoke in English and Spanish throughout the event.

For Convocation this year, we celebrated how Mount Airy City Schools has changed and grown over the years. Current and previous students spoke. MACS Teacher of the Year, and MAHS graduate, Nicole Hooker and graduate Will Pfitzner inspired staff through their stories as students and experiences after graduation. Check out our highlights from the event below.

Prior to Convocation starting, staff across the district participated in a digital scavenger hunt that allowed them to meet new folks and have a little fun.

2019-2020 School Year Begins

Check out our #MAfirstday video! Since the first day of school our students have met new teachers, made new friends, and enjoyed warm, delicious lunches. Some students have already had picture day, joined a club, practiced with a team, or attended a school event. We have had an amazing start to the school year and can't wait to see all of the opportunities and adventures that the 2019-2020 school year holds for students and staff.

Our School Nutrition Department is proud to serve breakfast and lunch to students on each campus. PreK-5 breakfast is FREE and lunches are served warm and fresh daily.
