Haynes Herald ELA & Social Studies News

It is hard to believe that we are half way through the year!!

ELA: Now in our 3rd quarter in ELA we will be studying Folklore (fairy tales, mythology, folktales, fables and legends). The students truly enjoy this unit. Once we get to the mythology portion of this unit, students will write their own myth as to how Medusa got her hair. The students will also create a medusa head that tells their story.

Homework for ELA is going to change a little. Students will still have weekly vocabulary, but I am going to add a weekly packet of reading passages and questions. This packet will be given to students on Friday and the packet will be due the following Friday.

Social Studies: We are finishing up Ancient India, moving on to World Religions, and then to Ancient Greece. Again there is no daily homework for Social Studies, but if your student does not complete his/her work in class, they will be expected to finish it for homework.
