Types of learning technologies are things like CBT Computer based training; available multimedia materials; networks and communication systems that help to support learning. It covers collaboration, online tutorials, and retrieval systems such as the Internet, the use of Google Docs; One Drive and ICloud to store, share and retrieve documents. Mobile Apps for language learning, Mobile Apps for exercise are all technologies that can be used for learning. Tablet computers, IPads, smart phones, laptops can all download Apps for almost anything now. Speech recognition for searching for things on the Internet, CORTANA being one device. To access your phone now and keep your personal information safer, you can use voice, fingerprint or iris recognition features.
Other technologies could be when working with disabled people and the technologies available to them, for example:
Alternative keyboards—featuring larger or smaller than standard keys or keyboards, alternative key layouts and keyboards for use with one hand.
Electronic pointing devices—used to control the cursor on the screen without use of hands. Devices used include ultrasound, infrared beams and eye movements.
Sip-and-puff systems—activated by inhaling or exhaling.
Wands and sticks—worn on the head, held in the mouth or strapped to the chin and used to press keys on the keyboard
Joysticks—manipulated by hand, feet, chin, etc. and used to control the cursor on screen.
Trackballs—movable balls on top of a base that can be used to move the cursor on screen.
Touch screens—allow selection or activate the computer by touching the screen, making it easier to select an option directly rather than through a mouse movement or keyboard.

We use WEST assessment tool which covers Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy. It starts at Entry 3 level and records a level at which the learner is at. It then automatically produces a learning plan to follow to aim to get that learner to go up a level, concentrating on the weaker areas. This is ongoing and learners complete this at the beginning, middle and end of program, giving a report to monitor progress.
Socrative
This is an amazing feedback tool that allows the teacher to get some quick formative feedback on student learning, understanding, and reflection. It is based on the teacher creating “Quick Question” activities that can include Multiple Choice, True False and Short Answers. They are intended to be quick and easy checks with visuals. Learners can use just about any device. It also allows for the student to remain anonymous. There are reports that are always available in the REPORTS section found after selecting MANAGE QUIZZES from the teacher dashboard. Reports can be downloaded or emailed after a class completes a Quiz. There is even a game feature.
Kahoot
This is a good formative assessment tool that allows you to make quizzes, start a discussion or create a survey. The teacher has access to all results and learners can use nicknames to stay anonymous.
Infuse Learning
This is an easy assessment tool to get learners response and have a discussion, a classroom is created with an ID number, and learners go to sign in with the ID and again can use a nickname. It can be used for drawing, multiple choice, open ended text, True/False and numeric.
Quizlet
Assessment by using flash cards, tests, study games to make learning fun.
Answer Garden
This is a social word cloud to get feedback from a group. To establish the knowledge level of the group on a certain topic. Brain storming sessions and blogging.
All these are learning tools as well as being used for assessment.
Advantages and Disadvantages of TTT's
Moovly is a tool and can be used for creativity to create movies/videos and give information.
Moovly is a browser-based tool that’s supported by the following browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer, running on Windows or MacOS. Older versions of these browsers or operating systems might not be fully supported which can be a disadvantage. The Moovly Editor is Adobe Flash based, so you need to make sure to update your Flash version regularly.
Disadvantage for using Moovly is that it is not yet available as an app for Android or IOS. Also, if you wanted to use Moovly on an iPad, you would have to use the Puffin browser. An advantage of downloaded or published Moovly videos is that they can be viewed on any device.
Kahoot and Quizlet
Advantages of both of these are that they are fun for the learners to use and play games or answer questions, also they can stay anonymous and not feel everyone knows it was them that posted that answer or opinion. Kahoot has an instant scoreboard which keeps the competition lively and learners engaged. A disadvantage is that learners will need support beyond the quizzes. There aren't individualized settings to allow extra time or other assistance, particularly for those playing inclusively.
CBT
Computer based training has advantages such as; flexibility, control over there learning pace, being able to go as quickly or slowly as they see fit and then there is convenience, you can work from anywhere whether it is from work or home or on the go as long as they have access to a computer and the Internet. Also large numbers of employee could be trained at the same time.
The disadvantages are; no personal contact with others or tutor, a certain learner may have a different learning style, so it may not suit them. May not have the IT skills to be able to manage the training.
Mobile technology
Advantages are that you can access emails and link to the office through your phone. You can check prices and stock online and place an order.
Disadvantages are that mobiles can be expensive, if you are not knowledgeable about security issues then personal data and bank details can easily be taken from your device.
Challenges or barriers to embedding TTT
Challenges or barriers to embedding TTT are such things as financial barriers, being able to afford to buy the devices in amounts to support the learners.
Issues with Internet connections as this is crucial for the delivery and can be a barrier if you are in remote areas.
It may be that the tutor has limited knowledge and does not have the up to date skills required to pass on the knowledge to the learners.
