EMBRACE THE CHALLENGE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS CONTINUE THEIR WINNING WAYS AS THEY GO 4-0

On June 11th the Northern Lights face the Malmi Blaze for the first time in history.

The Blaze is a Helsinki club known for a great team spirit and positive attitude. The team is playing 11 on 11 football for the first time, but several of the Blaze players have high level experience from the Maple League and even the United States. One player to look out for is DB #28 Robert Hayden Signore, formerly of Apex Cougars High School team from North Carolina.

The offense is once again led by QB#88 Aku Uotila, who is starting his second game of the season.

The Northern Lights find running room between the 20 yard lines, but in the red zone the Blaze defense tightens up.

To put some points on the board, the home team turns to their passing game. WR#26 Saku Kuusiniva breaks numerous tackles on his way to the end zone.

RB#21 Juuso Kantola continues piling up the yards despite a spirited Blaze effort.

The defense rises up for the challenge. Middle linebacker #57 Aku Koivumäki and his comrades pitch a shutout, the team's first since 2007.

The game ball goes to outside linebacker #33 Mario Guerrero Cherem. The veteran is all over the field making tackles and stopping once-promising Malmi drives.

The Northern Lights lead by two touchdowns at the half and eventually defeat the Blaze 40-0.

Cornerback #31 Ville Alanen returns a Malmi interception for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
