Wake Forest Men's Golf February 2020 Newsletter

The Arnold Palmer Golf Complex is one of the premiere college golf facilities in the country.

RECAP

The Demon Deacons opened their spring slate Feb. 16-18 in Houston, Texas at the All-American Intercollegiate. The Deacs had four top-25 finishers in their spring debut. Sophomore Alex Fitzpatrick notched his highest collegiate finish, coming at T3 with an overall score of 209, seven under par. After leading for half of the event, freshman Mark Power finished just two strokes behind Fitzpatrick at T7. Sophomore Eugenio Chacarra and senior Eric Bae rounded out the top 25 for Wake, coming in at T16 and T23, respectively.

WHAT'S NEXT

Wake Forest will be back in action March 9-10 at the General Hackler Championship hosted by Coastal Carolina, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, at The Dunes Club.

After major renovations in 2013, the course co-hosted the 2014 PGA Professional Championships. In Rees Jones' own words, "The golf course my father, Robert Trent Jones, created for the Dunes Club in 1948 is one of his true masterpieces. It is a challenging championship course designed on ideal land for golf; sandy, rolling terrain along the ocean with magnificent trees framing the fairways. It has been one of the highlights of my career to have had the opportunity to restore and enhance the original design intent. The course is now positioned for play by today's golfers."

The Arnold Palmer Golf Complex recently received a Howard Replica post clock from Matt and Sara Crawford, both Wake Forest graduates and avid supporters of Wake Forest Golf. Matt, an '88 graduate, and Sara, a '90 graduate, have two children, Matt Jr. and Molly. Matt is a senior at Wake preparing for graduation in May and Molly will begin her freshman year at Wake this fall.

The two-faced post clock was designed by Matt and Sara and members of the Wake golf program and built by the Verdin Company. All Verdin clocks are weatherproof, have shatterproof dials, bold clock hands, LED back-lighting, and are all made in America.

Thank you Matt and Sara Crawford for your continued support and generosity to Wake Forest golf!
