Performance Evaluation an integral part of employee development

Performance Evaluation is necessary for the success of an individual employee and the organization. Another way to look at it is how does an employee know if they don’t know. Remember that the organization is only as good as the people who make the organization.

Often times when we think of performance evaluations we think of the formal reviews that many companies still conduct just once a year.

Here are some tips for giving performance based evaluations.

How you conduct the performance review matters. You can make it a stressful event that really doesn’t matter through the year or you can make it an integral part of the development process.

Performance evaluations can be powerful tools for the employee. There are many different types of performance evaluations. As you view the different evaluation types think from the perspective of how will this help my scenario for my case study.

For any type of review or feedback remember that clarity of understanding is the key to success. Focus on performance and direction you want to see that person moving.

This week you will be practicing your performance evaluation skills and writing up the appraisal style and system that best suits the situation and organization of the scenario you are using throughout our class! Enjoy the process!
