Please join me at Ocean House Watch Hill, Road Island. I will be the Artisan in Residence on October 8 - October 10. Join me in this two-day event to learn the history and process of Raku style pottery. Paint, fire and take home your own masterpiece. DAY 1, October 8th: Choose a pre shaped pottery piece then paint with your own chosen colors. DAY 2, October 9th: Fire on site into an 1800 degree kiln outside on the property to witness the exciting changes the firing brings to your piece! This will be outside, so dress accordingly. Ages 8 and up only.

Gianakis’ augmented reality experiences can be revealed when her artwork is scanned with a mobile device. Highlights of the exhibition include: Oral Fixation, Cybella, Caged and Masked.
Even at a young age I was always creating, over the years I worked as a digital art director in advertising. My life took an abrupt shift after my diagnosis with breast cancer in 2015, mortality and life’s meaning became clear to me I needed to create fine art again. I started painting and drawing again from the day I found out I had cancer and have been creating art every day since. Now, six years later, I left my career as an art director in advertising to become a full time artist and professor at Saint Peter’s University. My art is figurative with an inherent drama, layered to tell stories dealing with emotions and moments in time. Sculpting with clay and using Raku firing process, I combine my sculptures with augmented reality and found objects.
