I have a passion for working in clay, combining sculptures with found objects and digital media. emotions inspire me to use the human form: Mostly faces, touching on themes of humanity, peace and survival.
this sculpture was created for an installation called "The Virginia Project," a collaborative written and visual art installation with tINa Barry. Barry’s poem “Birth," displayed beside my piece, reads: "Bed of blood and bone. Him her you us. The great usurper who knit himself from me”
Raku fired. The colbolt blues combined with sculpted waves of hair create a feeling of Dreams, like an ocean, my sweet, dream
"Fixation" Cravings manifested as an obsession. in my artwork is shown with sculptures of faces Raku fired. Each face, mouth opened, with fiber optic wires running throughout of their mouths, all interconnected showing the collective craving.
Raku Vase, you can see where the flame licked the vessel making impressions swirling with each lick of fire
“Unconscious Bliss” Raku sculpture Mounted in an antique distressed wooden box. The body’s positioned in ecstasy, veins protruding through the skin, blood flow and energy, confined in a moment within the box.
"The smoke of the raku creates blackened surface on the face. The glazes produce a broad spectrum of metallics and cracked surfaces, with variations in shades of copper, Greens, yellow and gold, Colors are intensified with the high heat and reduction process, giving the glazes an aged weathered effect.
