Origin: You may be wondering what the true definition of a cartoon is, although there are many interpretations of what it could be, a cartoon is a simple drawing showing the features of its subjects in a humorously exaggerated way, especially a satirical one in a newspaper or magazine

Who created the first cartoon? Emile Cohl, first started off as just a writer when he worked for the Gaumont film company, he had always wanted to be a writer, because that is what he was best at. Later throughout a few writings, he started working with animation. This was fascinating to him because in this, he thought about how interesting it would be if he had the ability to transform sketches into something real, something into life

Why cartoons? Creating cartoons was very powerful for Cohl because he wanted to put a shift into what cinema was back then, in 1908. He wanted to open the minds of people everywhere and be creative and show the world that this form of art could have potential and move far in life as we know it

The first animation that Cohl created was called Fantasmagorie. The animation was made up of entirely of 700 images then put onto negative film. Fantasmagorie is defined as a constantly moving complex succession of things seen or imagined. The film was a complete success for Emile Cohl and will have forever have changed the views of everyone working with him in the film industry at this time in 1908.

Lots of people found Cohl very inspiring and he is, in fact to this day known for being one of the most iconic entrepenuers for cartoons because he was breaking boundaries and stepping outside of the box for the entertainment of people everywhere.

Cohl is not the only entrepenuer of cartoons, cartoons is something that has changed for the better through the years, and another man that helped contribute to animation and is Walt Disney

Walt Disney is known to be one of the most charismatic and creative people in all of animation history. Walt Disney created Mickey Mouse and will have forever transformed the imaginations of children everywhere not only in America, but the world.

Disney's first cartoon to be showcased was called Steamboat Willie, this was created in 1928

Walt Disney helped create beautiful and creative films and cartoons ranging from newspapers, to commercials, 30 second cartoon skits, and finally films. Disney's first animated film was Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs (1937). After this film was an utter success, he moved on to create nostalgic classic films such as Pinocchio (1940) , Fantasia (1940) , Dumbo (1941) , and Bambi (1942).

Cartoons in modern day, include many hilarious characters, and animations that make children across the nation want more and more of it, and will forever be spectacular.
