Please take a few moments and use the link below to provide some encouragement to those folks that are making a major difference in your child's future. These comments can be anonymous, or you can provide your name. The office staff will use the provided comments every Thursday for our #thankfulThursday movement. The attached form can be completed, as little or often as you like, throughout the entire school year. We appreciate your support in growing the culture of gratitude that already exists at MIS!!
A couple comments shared this week:
"Mrs. Best is such a good communicator. Our son was a close contact and had to miss school for a while. Mrs. Best send a weekly agenda and messages throughout his time away to check in. She made a crummy situation much better! We appreciate her!"
"Mrs. Herron was so organized when our son had to miss school for a while. She made work easy to find and follow. She had a Google Meet daily to teach the kids their content and allow them to engage in their learning. We appreciate her!"
report card reminders
Report cards went live in the PowerSchool Parent Portal this afternoon. Just a few things that we want to make sure that you are aware:
Related Arts Grades: We wanted to remind you that these classes are on a 12 week rotation (trimester) this year so the grade you will see on the current report card will be from the first classes your child had this year, not the one in which they are currently enrolled. The current class will end in five weeks so the final grade for the current course will show up on the quarter 3 report card. However to see your child's current grade in any class in which they are enrolled, you can always go to Powerschool.
Letter Grade vs Effort/Conduct Grade:
The letter grade is a reflection of a student's content knowledge of the skills/standards being worked on in class.
The conduct grade will reflect a child's work ethic and/or attitude over the course of the nine weeks.
Therefore, these two indicators can be used to provide you with information such as:
• A student could struggle academically but be a hard-working student who contributes positively to the classroom environment.
• On the flip side, there might be a student who academically gets the material at a high level, but doesn't always make the best decisions in helping create a solid learning environment.
Our hope is to always help students improve in both of these areas over the course of their intermediate school career.
Student council news
The Maxwell student council wants to help warm up the students of Greenfield-Central K-6 Schools! Please bring in new hats and/or gloves. Each classroom will be collecting items to share with our neighboring school friends.
The class with the most items collected will receive a hot chocolate surprise. Collection starts next Monday, Jan 11th and will run for 2 weeks, ending on Friday, Jan 22nd.
It's cold in the winter! Let's warm up the hearts of those close to us.
The practice test window opens January 25th. We are required to give all students the practice test prior to them taking "real" test this spring.
