Athletes In The Crowd FEBRUARY 2019

Nik Eberly, Men's Swim, Senior

The Dexter Men’s Swim and Dive team has won the Division II state title three straight years and is looking to add to this dynasty. Nik Eberly is expected to play a major role in this quest.

“My personal goal this year is to break the D2 state record in the 100 yard fly, which is 47.5 seconds,” Eberly said, noting his fastest time is 48.4. “We have a very young team, but so far we’ve done pretty well against D1 schools at dual meets.”

The amount of success against larger programs is a good sign leading up to the state meet giving Dexter a decent shot at adding another trophy dynasty.

Caden Doll, Men's Basketball, Senior

With the season well underway, senior Caden Doll has proven his leadership for the Dreads. On January 11 at Lincoln, playing against the highly-touted Emoni Bates, Doll scored 13 points and made big plays on the defensive side of the ball. Against Chelsea on January 18, Doll scored 11 points and was an integral part of the offense.

“I’ve played mediocre, not my best or to my full potential so far,” said Doll, assessing his performance. “I usually play a role as a leader, get everyone in shape.”

Livvy Mellifont, Women's basketball, Sophomore

Sophomore Livvy Mellifont has been making a name for herself on varsity with many impressive performances. On January 18 against Chelsea, Mellifont scored a team-high 13 points, leading the Dreads to a solid performance.

“I usually don’t notice how many points I score and mainly focus on the score as a whole,” said Mellifont, who had five points in the third quarter to keep Dexter in the game. “I have a passion for winning and I’ll do whatever it takes to win.”
