What are the NVRHA Amateur-level divisions? Youth Novice, Youth Limited, Youth Amateur, in the Non-Pro: Novice, Limited, Amateur, and Open. You can also enter Open a la carte if you just want to try one or some of our classes, but not yet ready to go in all 5 of the classes.
We want riders to learn and compete at a pace they are comfortable with.
CoVRHA offers great prizes for all divisions. We also have a ton of fun!
Here's a checklist of what to prepare for to get ready to start the new CoVRHA show year:
Renew your memberships in CoVRHA and NVRHA: You must show your card as proof of membership when you pick up your entry packet at each show
Are you and your horse brand new to CoVRHA and NVRHA events? If so, at the first event you MUST ride in the clinic in order to be classified by the clinicians before you can enter a division in the competition!
Enter clinics early! Clinic spots in particular fill up fast. We keep the ratio of spots/clinician low so quality of learning is high. We typically have entries open 30 days prior to the event and this can be done online at:
Listen Up! 2021 NVRHA Rule Change Update and Education corner....
Novice riders - check your scoresheets after your first two shows! Find a board member, veteran rider or trainer to help you understand the importance of this. In a nutshell - Novice riders- if your average performance score after 2 shows is 230 or higher - you will be automatically bumped up to Limited division. National award placement points don't transfer! To help with this- we are providing an education sheet on this rule attached to all Novice rider scoresheets at the end of the show.
National Year End Awards tie breaker notice for 2021:
In the event of a tie in placement points for year-end awards, the tie breaker will be determined as follows - the 5 scores earned in Working Ranch will be noted, the highest and the lowest score will be eliminated, and the 3 remaining scores will be averaged to determine the winner. If less than 5 events are required for Year End Awards - all scores earned in Working Ranch will be totaled and average score will determine the winner.
Fortunately we have a great mix of seasoned riders, trainers and staff at CoVRHA to help explain rules, points, year-end awards. Come grab one of us - we're a friendly bunch and all started out by having lots of questions too.
