Dear Parents and Carers,
School Stream App.
This week we re-launched the Ballina Public School School Stream App. An email was sent to all parents and carers with download links and instructions how to join School Stream.
I'd like to encourage all parents and carers to download the App and to join our School Stream. School Stream has many features that will make it easy for us to stay in touch with you WITHOUT the privacy problems of other social media.
Some of the great features of School Stream include:
- Real Time Notifications for important or urgent messages
- Personalised messaging between app users and the school (just like text with no cost)
- Online forms such as Absentee Notes or Permission Notes
- Links to Online Newsletters
- An Online Calendar to see Upcoming Events.

Parent Survey - "Tell Them From Me"
Thank you to everyone who has completed the "Tell Them From Me" Parent Survey. We have had a good response so far but we ask everyone who hasn't yet completed the survey to take a few minutes to do so. You only have until the end of this Term to complete the survey.
This survey provides feedback from parents and carers which guides our practice to ensure that we are excelling in all areas of Well being, Teaching and Learning. Don't miss your chance to have your say. The survey is 100% confidential and your feedback is 100% appreciated!!
You can access the survey at the link below:
Watch out for Head Lice.
As the weather warms, we ask everyone to be aware of the potential for head lice in school aged children.
Head lice are very common in the community. It is important that you check your child’s hair, and treat for head lice if required, to help prevent head lice spreading.
Check the hair of every member of the household. If you find live head lice on anyone, treat them as well. Do not treat everyone “just in case”.
It is a good idea to wash hair ties and hair brushes but you do not need to wash bedding or pillows.
Further information on how to treat Head Lice can be accessed here:
Thank you for your cooperation.
Morning Start Time for School - 8.45 am.
We'd like to remind everyone that each morning, supervision begins at 8:45 am. Please remind your child(ren) that students are expected to wait sitting in the correct area once they arrive at school each morning.
End of Term 3.
We've almost made it through another term. The last day of Term 3 is this Friday, 25th of September. We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable break and we look forward to seeing everyone back for Term 4 on Monday, 12th of October.
Have a wonderful week of learning.
Stacie Luppi, Principal.

Teachers have heard Stage 3 students encouraging each other to use kind words to one another, which is fantastic to hear.
1S made posters on what school talk looks like and did great job displaying and sharing how to be respectful and to use kind words. Keep up the great work everyone, focusing on using positive language!
Hudson and Amelia working on their posters.
It certainly is cool to be kind Leighaya.
Jiahnna and Brooklyn show off their finished posters.
PAT Testing For Years 3 & 4.
Ballina Public is pleased to confirm that our school will be participating in an important research project to investigate whether COVID-19 has had any impact on student learning and teacher morale.
The research is being undertaken by the University of Newcastle in Term 4, 2020. Our school is booked for testing on October 21 and 22.
At our school, years 3 & 4 will participate in the testing, and information letters have been sent out.
The research will involve the researchers being granted access to some student survey and assessment data, but it will not include the names of any of the students.
Parents who do not want the research team to have access to these data, can opt-out on their child’s behalf. For further information about the research, please contact the research team’s project manager (Wendy Taggart) at firstname.lastname@example.org
2020 Book Week
“Kindergarten were monsters of medium size
With crotchety horns and googly eyes”
Kindergarten and Stage 1 have been invited to create monsters for the 2020 Book Week Theme “Curious Creatures, Wild Minds” at the Ballina Public Library. There are little pieces of paper cut out and glue everywhere in the library right now - but the result is wonderful, creative, individual monsters. These monsters will be displayed at Ballina Public Library from next term. Be sure to drop in for a visit!
Term 4 Book Week Character Parade: Thursday 22nd October at 10:00 am
Students dress up as their favourite story characters. The canteen will also be providing story book themed food.
Unfortunately our Book Parade will be limited to students and staff due to current Covid restrictions.
There has been some wonderful writing in Kindy this week. Mrs Franklin has taken some photos of KF's writing on the Topic: "I wish I could be ....."
Keep up the good work KF!
