Have a great Summer!
This was a great last week of the school year. We hosted the Davinci awards, the 8th grade promotion, 8th grade party, and had fun engaging classroom activities happening throughout the building. Way to finish strong! Thank you Baker Family for making this a great school year! This will be the last Baker Blast of the 2018-2019 school year. Enjoy your summer break! See you in August!
New Baker Website Launched
Our new website is now active. It has a great new look and very interactive with embedded video, icons, and links. Please visit the website and familiarize yourself with the new format prior to the start of the school year. We will be adding new video and "news" items along the way--including a dedicated page where we will post external news coverage and press releases that go out. If you are looking for your most "sought after" information (menus, powerschool, schoology, etc.)--it's all under the QUICK LINK tab on the upper left of the site.

The daVinci Awards Film Festival
This was another successful year for the daVinci Awards film festival. Several of our students had the opportunity to showcase their video production talents and content knowledge to members of our community. Each video had to solve a problem, share science content, include a real-world application, and be entertaining. We had a full house on the opening night and an exciting red carpet event prior to the show. The pictures above are a few highlights from the red carpet. Baker Book Club Summer Reading Recommendations
Baker Book Club had another successful year! Not only did we read, discuss and share recommendations with one another, we also contributed to March is Reading Month by organizing our Book Drive and Need a Book, Take a Book event. In addition, we donated all money raised during our bake sale to the book mural fundraiser. We hope to kick-off next school year with another bake sale to raise money for books. In case you’d like to help us meet our goal, please consider donating to our Donors Choose project:
Baker Fall Athletics
Football Information: Coach Hosbach and LaTorre have already started their work for the 2019 football season. The initial phases of the BakerTOUGH locker room transformation is complete and looks great. We are excited about the upcoming season. Beginning this fall, each TSD middle school will offer one combined 7th & 8th grade football team. Over the past few years, numbers at schools across the district have decreased. Operating teams with low numbers presented challenges.
Combining the 7th & 8th grade teams will allow for teams with larger numbers and won’t require athletes to play virtually every down of the game. If your son or daughter is interested in being a part of the program, they will need a sports physical to start. The Baker Football program is focused on safely teaching the fundamentals and the character traits of being T.O.U.G.H. Please contact Coach Hosbach or LaTorre for more information.

Sports Physicals 2019-2020
Troy School District will be offering an opportunity for student athletes to get a Sports Physical for the 2019-20 sports season on these two days: Wednesday, June 5, and Wednesday, July 10, at Athens High School from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The cost is $25.00 and there are no appointments taken. All student athletes from ANY TSD middle and high school are welcome to participate. Beaumont Family Medicine will be performing the physicals.
The physicals will be in the athletic area (near the gyms/training room) and physical forms will be available onsite. Athens HS Athletic Trainer, Mr. Brian Baines, and Troy HS Athletic Trainer, Mr. Mike Sime, will be on site for both evenings. NOTE: You do not have to take advantage of this opportunity in order for your child to participate in sports--you are welcome to get a physical from your family doctor as well. Forms (back and front) are available on the TSD Athletics page.
