"How Do I Get Through These Nights?" - as played live with band
Biography
Zak Younger Banks is an alternative producer and singer-songwriter based in Glasgow and Newcastle who combines emotionally raw vocals and poetic lyrics with an inventive and original DIY production style and affecting electronic soundscapes.
Before the pandemic hit, Zak performed regularly at venues including the Sage Gateshead and the Blue Arrow Jazz Club, sharing the stage with artists such as Martha Hill and George Ogilvie. He most often plays with a full band of keys, synths, bass and drum kit - the result is an atmospheric, thrilling and immersive experience. Zak also recently played at Resonate Live in Glasgow alongside Rascalton, Awkward Family Portraits, Scarlett Randle, Billy Got Waves + Joell and Grayling.
“a subtle masterpiece of vocal harmonies that wouldn’t be out of place on a Bon Iver record”
“Zak’s voice conjures the likes of expressive songwriters like Jeff Buckley and Elliot Smith… but it’s the arrangements that set them apart from standard singer-songwriter fare”
NARC Magazine - feature on Wrong Turns
“Oh my! This is wonderful!”
“The subtle arrangement is one that hits you *right there* with the acoustic guitar rubbing beautifully against some atmospheric electronics and manipulated vocals”
“Zak Younger Banks has managed to straddle the worlds of both Bon Iver and James Blake and the results are quite stunning”
