Women and development.
One of Caritas Australia's partners is the Tjpanpi desert weavers. They support more than 300 first Australian women, from 28 remote aboriginal communities with culturally appropriate employment opportunities.
Workshops have been held to include younger women; in 2011-12. 109 females under 30 attended training.
Caritas Australia’s Integrated Pest Management program in Nepal, aims to provide greater food security and income for marginalised members of the community.
In Timor-Leste the Protection Program aims to promote the protection and resilience of up to 1500 vulnerable people, including women in Timor-Leste. Caritas Australia's support of the program focuses on empowering survivors of violence. We identify factors that contribute to family violence and discuss appropriate strategies to increase family harmony.

In 200 words describe why the school support project compassion appeal.
I think Padua College should support the Caritas project compassion appeal, because what Caritas is doing is a good cause to the people that don't have the lucky and privileged things that we do. Those people that don't have as much as we do need our help.
Padua college is a lucky and privileged school, and as well as Caritas we should help those people. We could help them by e.g donating money for things like water wells, cooking classes, language lessons etc.
Caritas does good deeds for people, just like Jesus did, we are also a catholic school we should help out a catholic appeal, and do good deeds. This organisation is catholic and helps people and gives people miracles, just like Jesus.
The Caritas appeal, is helping by giving people opportunities that they never would have had without help. Part of that help is to give and donate money to buy things that would pay for expensive objects, teachers, doctors/nurses, lessons etc.
The global issue that I chose, women and development means something to me. Women aren't given the same rights, they have less, and in countries like Nepal etc women are treated even worse. Using love and compassion we can help end poverty.
